Jaded Hipster Choir - Big Hands

Big Hands was an experiment in samples and time restraints, I am told. The precocious Thomas Mamos has crafted this beautiful train riding music in 2 hours, weaving it together with a coldly inviting narrative: an eskimo boy going to see the shaman as based on this anthropological photo. People have called this album pretentious. I disagree. This album is a pleasure, and an impressive display of tact and cohesion. I invite you to listen for yourself and tell someone who understands these sorts of things.

Flora - Re: M i x e s

A delightfully erudite rendition of Usher's Love In The Club and Peter Broderick's And It's Alright painted in Flora's signature crystal sharp twinklings. Love In The Club has used just such crystalline twinklings to build for us an ethereal club, if you will, in the very clouds of sound. Where, of course, we will all make some sort of love in. A sleezy R&B jam has never been this dressed-for-sunday, so to speak. And the subtle upheaval of Peter Broderick's marvelous acoustic composition is refashioned with a christmas warmth that is altogether embracing and altogether indicative of the author, Mr. Broderick, and, even more so, the notorious editor, the ever-unaging Flora. Enjoy responsibly.

Bike Month - Bike Month

Bike Month is the bastard child musical departure of Doug Hoyer, Edmonton's Indie Pop Crooner. This thirty piece set can cut through shoes. Recorded on an analog four track tape recorder using a record called 100 of the most popular hip hop drum breaks or something like that to supplement a majority of the drums, doug gathered together a significant chunk of the music scene and crafted these short songallitos with guitars, bass, keyboards, shakers, recorder, mandolin, banjo, glockenspiel, vocal samples, and a plethora of other humdrum. And a lot of voices and a lot of pedals as well. Bike Month is a surprisingly cohesive album given the variety of moods and topics it encompasses. OLD UGLY is in stitches about this one. These songs have a lot of essense, if you understand what I am trying to mean. They have teeth. Kind benevolent teeth. Just consider the bike trails of Edmonton and the special way a dog hot day will purchase a perfect summer night. Bike Month.

Mitchmatic - It Happened

It Happened has been well waited for. Mitchmatic is known well for his musicality and strong artistic intergrity so it is about time we can carry it about with us on whatever thingy we choose to play music on. MITCHMATIC, kid, MITCHMATIC. Mitchell debuts with several thirty second songs of condensed verbosity and sonar therapy. Two full length jams accompany this taciturn selection of songallitos. Mitch himself thinks the songs are "OK, I Guess" but we here at OLD UGLY feel quite impressed with them. A strong first impression is by all accounts accounted for on this terse mixtape, aptly titled, It Happened. And it really did.

CBT
- is struggling with insecurity..

This 76 minute REVOLUTION in pointless music is the most entertaining & unenlightened RAP you will have the pleasure of enduring in perhaps your entire life. There is no underlying message. There is no hidden agenda. This album is perfect. This album is pointless. This album pays tribute to nothing. Read into it if you want to. XLACKS+ MITCHMATIC + MIKEY MAYBE + DNT + WELL PUT + THE JOE + MARSH + CAKES + JUICE + SHREW + MORE.

The Joe - Cool-School Geek-Rap Backpack Weird-Core The Mixtape

Available once more, The Joe's 2006 release which is best described by its longwinded title. This album, by virtue of serendipity, actually brought Mikey and Joe together. Interesting!
